Eddings writes spectacular characters as always and finally the plot is thickening. It was a dull read despite the new episode of action or intrigue seeming to occur every twenty to fifty pages. It dwvid fast-paced, witty, and engaging. I’ve never been tempted to read anything by Eddings since.

You get to know the first few characters in the starter and the plot presents equally appealing dual conflicts. I remember this series very fondly, but I think I enjoyed it more as a teenager.

Want to Read saving…. This is the beginning of a new edding series and I am not as hooked as I was with the prior series of his. But the plot is different enough to keep it interesting, despite certain similarities, and is very fast paced, Sparhawk is constantly on the move, and it seems once one crisis is averted another one pops up and Sparkhawk is trotting off to sort that out as well.
The tale was lost a little in this, or at least a little shrouded. I have recently ordered them for a friend that will like them just as much.
We have the flenium of the hero and the destiny, the peril, the item of power and the quest to obtain it, the great evil, the personal rival, and all the layers upon layers of worldbuilding that come w The Elenium is one of the first classic fantasy series I read after a long, long foray into Star Wars and Star Trek novels. The characters are one of the best dwvid of the books I found.
Sparhawk is a three-dimensional character, not the best but far from the worst. It’s light reading, it’s fast reading. To view it, click here. Typically, quest adventures like to run with someone much younger and malleable, so the mix-up here is refreshing.
This book follows the quest to finding and acquiring the gem. This has bits of that but somehow pales into insignificance next to it. And yet, it isn’t quite perfect. It follows the story of Sparhawk, a Pandion Knight who has a knack of upsetting people in high places. Sparhawk now has possession of the Bhelliom, so he returns to Cimmura and uses it to cure Queen Ehlana.

The novel itself describes it as “cruel, rigid, unforgiving and smugly self-righteous” by Sephrenia, a follower of a polytheistic competing religion, and the Elene religion never is more than that.
After finding King Sarak’s grave they learn that the crown had not been buried with him. Halius is a Plainsward, a simple man tasked with a grave responsibility.
The Bhelliom was last known to have been mounted on the crown of the Advid King Sarak. If you are going to read Eddings stick to the Belgariad books. She was eight when Sparhawk left.
