Catherine Jenks cleraly knows what she is talking about with all the scinece and computer terms, though her story telling is fantastic. YA books do tend to share a focus on young people and an interest in the social predicaments they face; at their best, YA books are inclusive, sensitive and relevant.
The coming-of-age narrative is interwoven with the conventions of another genre: It’s interesting and entertaining, jink a little tedious at times. Phineas suggests the Axis Institute for Cadel to go to. The last hundred or so pages are pure action, with revelations coming quickly and plot twists galore. That said, I’m frantic evi read the next in the series. I have been tasked with the duty of creating a presentation on identity for an assignment and was told to use some literary sources to present the struggles of finding oneself and a sense of identity, your books were the first that sprung to mind.

His classmates include a young man from Liverpool whose stench is so bad he has to wear a kind of spacesuit to protect everyone from his smell; twins with a penchant for shoplifting, aided and abetted by a telepathic connection; and a young medical student who’s trying to turn himself into a vampire.
But is it too late to stop Dr. Jinks knows how to write, pure and simple. So when I read Evil Genius and there it was, so perfectly set, one layer gently upon the other and so forth, it sparked in me an excitement and a new passion for writing I had never had before.
